Our People

At UMAGE, we believe that diversity drives innovation and excellence. Our team comprises 46 dedicated individuals from around the globe, working together to achieve extraordinary results. Headquartered in Copenhagen, our reach extends to offices in New York, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City, and Stuttgart, creating a vibrant, multicultural work environment. Our collective seniority averages 4 years, and the average age of our employees is 36.

Our Work Culture

UMAGE’s work culture is characterized by openness, fun, and a flat organizational structure where every opinion matters. We foster an environment where interdisciplinary collaboration thrives, and everyone supports each other in both large and small measures. We are committed to equality and diversity, ensuring a positive and inclusive workplace for all, regardless of age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race, or beliefs. Our team proudly represents 12 different nationalities with a gender balance of 57% female and 43% male, which is equally reflected in our management. To ensure optimal working conditions, we provide all employees with height-adjustable desks, dual monitors, ergonomic chairs, and company-paid health insurance that covers their entire family. Additionally, we offer bi-monthly visits from a professional massage therapist and a yearly health-check.

4-Day Work Week

We believe in a healthy work-life balance at UMAGE. Our employees enjoy a 4-day work week, working 30 hours with every Friday or Wednesday off. This policy allows our team to recharge, spend quality time with loved ones, and return to work more productive and creative. “Our goal is to achieve the perfect balance between work and personal life, enabling our employees to excel professionally and fulfill their personal dreams,” says UMAGE CEO Jacob Nannestad. Co-owners Søren Ravn Christensen and Jacob Nannestad believe that more leisure time leads to happier, more efficient, and creative employees. A philosophy reflected in our beautiful designs, which stem from a content and innovative workforce. Anders Klem, our in-house designer who has been with UMAGE for over a decade, shares: “I’ve always questioned why most people work full-time while raising young children. The 4-day work week at UMAGE was a welcome surprise, and I’m proud to be part of such a forward-thinking company that challenges traditional work norms.”

Our Suppliers

We are dedicated to ensuring our suppliers uphold our values and maintain excellent working conditions. Our suppliers have an average gender ratio of 59% male and 41% female, working an average of 8 hours a day, 5.75 days a week. We aim for a supply chain that is 100% audited and certified by BSCI, SEDEX, or similar standards, ensuring top working conditions and environmental performance. Currently, 56% of UMAGE’s suppliers are certified.

Collaboration with

Special Minds

At UMAGE, we are thrilled to partner with Special Minds, a social enterprise that empowers individuals with autism spectrum disorders through meaningful employment and education initiatives. Whenever we receive a defective Asteria Floor lamp, it goes straight to Special Minds, where it is
skillfully recycled and refurbished. Each lamp is transformed into a limited edition Asteria Floor lamp in a unique Special Minds colour, ready for a new life.

The Special Minds x UMAGE Asteria Floor Lamp is
available in limited quantities, each one a testament to the skill and creativity of the Special Minds team.

All profits from these lamps are donated directly to the Danish Autism Association, which works tirelessly to spread knowledge about autism and promote understanding of the challenges it entails. The association represents the interests of individuals with autism—children, young people, and adults—advocating for them at both local and national levels.
